Job Description
Whitman-Hanson High School is seeking an experienced and dedicated varsity softball coach to lead our program. The varsity softball coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school varsity softball team, including coaching, team management, player development, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead daily practices focused on skill development, strategy, and team-building
- Recruit (only within our school) and evaluate student-athletes, assessing their skills and potential to build a competitive varsity roster
- Develop players' skills and knowledge of the game through individual feedback and group instruction
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal growth
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administrators, and the broader community
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience coaching or playing high school or college softball
- Knowledge of softball rules, strategies, and techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills
- Ability to create and implement effective practice plans
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Successful completion of a background check
- CPR and first aid certification required
- Must be MIAA certified (or willing to become certified)
