Primary Function: To provide direct services to students in order to meet their medical, educational, and behavioral needs. 

Reports to: Building Principal and School Nurse

Responsibilities: 

1. Supporting students in their day-to-day physical needs. This may include but is not limited to feeding, toileting, changing, dressing, assisting with physical management, or transporting. 
2. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and monitor progress. 
3. Provide support for identified students both inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in activities.
4. Collaborate on the development of the student’s IHCP (Individualized Health Care Plan).
5. Provide nursing care only for the student to whom they are assigned within the classroom.
6. Provide nursing care based on the implementation of MD orders for medications and/or medical treatments.
7. Provide nursing care for the student during the entire school day which may be modified as needed. Should the 1:1 Nurse require time away from the student, she/he must communicate directly with the building school nurse and classroom teacher to develop a safe plan in their absence.
8. Document all nursing care provided to the student in an accurate and timely manner.
9. Implement special strategies as required by the supervisor
10. Maintain confidentiality of student information
11. Implementing a student's behavior management plans and data collection.
12. Providing small group or 1:1 instruction for students. 
13. Providing support during extracurricular activities as needed. (Unified Sports, Best Buddies, School Dances, etc.)
14. Following a teacher-led schedule and directions 
15. Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues 
16. Meets regularly with classroom teachers to evaluate student progress.
17. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

1. An Associate’s (or higher) degree; OR
2. Evidence of completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education; OR
3. Evidence of completion of one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed assessments:ParaPro or WorkKeys
4. Licensed as a Licensed Practicing Nurse 

204-day contract (prorated if the candidate's start date does not align with the start of the school year)

Starting pay of $32/hr with a sliding scale depending on past experience.
